Also, according to Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record: "No further details of purchase having been recorded, the etching was given a registration number for the year 1906, when the Smithsonian Inventory was printed."
[2] The original deed of Charles Lang Freer's gift was signed in 1906. The collection was received in 1920 upon the completion of the Freer Gallery.
