Abstract:
This is a set of 48 cards, filled on both sides with notes of various researchers recording ornithological data for the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. The field research took place in Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest (HBEF), located in New Hampshire, as appears on the cards. HBEF is operated by the USDA Forest Service since 1955, and is a member of the National Science Foundation's Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) since 1988. The research concerned the black-throated blue warbler, represented by the initials "BW" on the labeled separator for the set of cards in the collection box. Each card shows the year (1988), the nest number and band ID number, the observer's name, the geographical location, the code for the study site location, the type of forest, and the nest's dimensions as well as its location on the plant. Notes show the nesting behavior and the fate of each nest, with indications on the state of the nest (such as incubation, nestling, fledged), dated per day of each month of the nestling season.
