The volume contains field data for the Smithsonian-Bredin Society Islands Expedition, April-May 1957, and documents accession no. 213821 in the department Invertebrate Zoology, National Museum of Natural History. According to the title page, is also includes soil samples and a few miscellaneous collections. Entries are organized by tow number and list date, sometimes time, weather, location information, description of sea bottom, habitat, specimens collected (marine invertebrates), sometimes collector, and method of specimen preservation. Notes are listed in the recto of each page. Additional information are listed on the verso. These sometimes contain drawings of locations with notes. Some entries contain a list of specimen type (common name) and quantity. The volume includes loose inserts.
