The notes and drawings document William Holmes' field work in Monte Albán in Oaxaca, Mexico, during 1895. Wokr was completed while working for the Field Museum in Chicago. Drawings depict the terrain of the mountain range (lesser Alban) near the deserted settlement, buildings and structures, layouts, Mayan sculpture, hand drawn map of the site, architectural details, and elevations. Drawings often include descriptions, as well as measurements. Field notes are headed with location and describe observations and interpretations of the site, building methods, as well as descriptions of the surrounding terrain.
