The folder documents the field work of William Osman relating benthic marine life along the coast of California during March 28 - July 2, 1980. The study involved submerging plates and retrieving them to determine type and abundance of benthic marine life present. Entries are dated and sometimes narrative in structure. They headed with the names or initials of colleagues working, followed with descriptions of weather, work completed relating to placement and study of plates, work related challenges, conditions in and on the water. Often information is listed by location identifier (e.g. 4SK).
