The box of slides documents the field work of William Osman relating to barn kelp during 1978 - 1979. Images show benthic marine life growing on plates that have been submerged in areas along the California coast. Slides contain the following description: size (e.g. L), identifier (e.g. D4 1BK), month and year (e.g. 8-80), and unidentified information (e.g. 148-24. The slides are divided into four columns that are described on a sheet of a paper inside the box lid which primarily contains letters and abbreviations (e.g. G1-2).
