This diary contains Stejneger's notes from his research in various locations in Bering Island and Copper Island in 26 July to 27 August 1897. Pages are number 201 to 258. Stejneger's entries are narrative and describe weather conditions, the events of the day, descriptions of seals observed,and seal counts (counting the number of seals spotted). Stejneger provides his seal counts and those of B. Hamilton. Other information like pounds of seal accepted are also included.
