Abstract:
The notebook documents an inspection trip relating to the study of chromite at Silver Star, Johnny Gulch, and Pony Chrome, recorded by William R. Jones during August 10 - 15, 1942. Notes contain information about geology of the area. The volume begins with an index listing page number and subject matter. Subject covers location and type information recorded. Entries cover descriptions of location and general setting, as well as traverse to determine the end of the ultramafic zone west of Boulder River. Location information generally consists of landmarks and intersections of roads in vicinity. General description covers description of terrain and geological composition. Some descriptions include drawings of geological characteristics and hand drawn maps.
