Abstract:
The field book documents the field work of Richard Rathbun along the Bahia Railroad in Brazil while working as a geologist on the Geological Commission of Brazil, April 5 - 19, 1876. Entries are dated and narrative in structure. They describe characteristics of reefs including the Reef of Mar Grande (with measurements and drawings), routes traveled, daily activities, geological characteristics of terrain, specimens collected, and presence and abundance of fauna. At the end of the volume is a list of expenses paid.
