The volume documents field work of E. O. Ulrich in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, 1922; Virginia, Tennessee, 1923; Virginia, 1930. The notebook begins with a typed index listing location and page number. Entries are dated, headed with location, and contain observations of terrain, notes on gastropods, sections, travel details, and individuals with whom collected. There are numerous pasted inserts and a group of photographs and negatives.
