The notebook documents the work of H. S. Ladd in Hawaii, November 25 - December 23, 1925, Australia, and New Zealand, February 23 - September 16, 1926. The volume begins with an itinerary. The entries are dated and narrative in structure. They describe travel details, field work, office work, "fish work", observations of terrain including enroute, sketches with notes, marine fauna observed, discussions with colleagues including natural sciences theories, specimens collected, collections studied, and daily activities. Includes a loose insert of field notes. Locations include sites across Oahu Island, Hawaii; vicinity of Sydney, Australia; and Auckland, New Zealand.
