The notebook documents the work of William J. Sando while in the western United States, 1982. Entries cover field trips with C. A. Sandberg and Keith Moore in New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada, February 26 - March 21, 1982; field trip to northern Rockies with C. A. Sandberg and assistant, July 13 - August 2, 1982. Entries are dated and narrative in structure. They are short but provide concise details about travel (transportation, accommodations, times, expenses, mileage), to-do list, personal observations, weather, requests for specimens, work completed, daily activities, names of colleagues with whom worked, and field sites visited. Locations are identified by geographic location name of section, e.g. East Canyon section.
