The notebook documents the work of William J. Sando while in the western United States, 1980 - 1981. Entries cover field trips with C. A. Sandberg, September 15 - October 6, 1980 and March 30 - April 19, 1981; field trip with Miss. working group and GSA North meeting, April 26 - May 2, 1981; and field work with Sandberg, August 24 - September 13, 1981. Entries are dated and narrative in structure. They are short but provide concise details about travel (transportation, accommodations, times, expenses, mileage), personal observations, weather, requests for specimens, work completed, daily activities, names of colleagues with whom worked, and field sites visited. Locations are identified by geographic location name of section, e.g. East Canyon section. Locations include but are not limited to Elephant Canyon [Utah?], possibly Wyoming. Includes a loose insert, business card for Kentucky Geological Survey.
