Abstract:
The black-and-white photographs document field work on Jarvis Island for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program, March 14-16, 1964. On the reverse side of images are captions listing location, sometimes date range (March 14 - 19), description, sometimes photographer (R. Clapp). Some captions describe what portion of the island is photographed. Subject matter covers structures in camp, birds (Red-footed Boobies, Ret-tailed Tropicbirds, Masked Boobies), terrain (coastline, reef), nesting areas, participants at work, habitat, and structures on island (lighthouse). Some photographs were taken from tower on the island.
