Abstract:
The envelope of black and white photographs documents the southern islands in the Pacific Ocean during the 1930's. Subject matter includes an image of the ship Taney W-37 from the US Coast Guard (12th District), vegetation, images of Peter Gruening and Dr. Ernest Gruening, trade goods on deck of Taney during 13th cruise. Most images are from U.S. Department of Interior, Office of the Secretary, Division of Territories and Island Possessions.
