Abstract:
These original photographs mound on mounted and with captions pertain to Stejneger's extensive study of the fur seals of the North Pacific-Bering Sea area. The photographs show fur-seal rookeries, fur seals, local people, fur skins on the rookery, the way of life on the fur-seal islands, and general geological features on Bering Island (officially Ostrov Beringa), especially in Nikolski (officially Nikol’skoye). Some or all of these images may be published. Many of the photographs are dated July 1895.
