Abstract:
This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1965, on Southern Island Cruise 8. Materials include: bird observation sheets (At Sea Daily Log E), at sea daily observations summary, and climatological data sheets. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., hgt., remarks, and loc. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, etc.). At sea daily observations summary includes total abundance of birds, and abundance of bird groups (Shearwater-Petrel-Albatross group, Tropicbirds, etc.). Climatological data includes time, lat., long., pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, wet b, dew pt, hum%, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, course, speed.
