Abstract:
This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1965, on Southern Island Cruise 7. Materials include: bird observation sheets (At Sea Daily Log E), abundance summary data (At Sea Survey Chart A), and climatological data sheets. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., hgt., remarks, and loc. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, etc.). At Sea Survey Chart A includes total abundance of birds, and abundance of bird groups (Shearwater-Petrel-Albatross group, Tropicbirds, etc.). Climatological data includes time, lat., long., pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, wet b, dew pt, hum%, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, course, speed. Also included is a photocopy of a typed report on Howland Island Survey, ATF#7.
