Abstract:
This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1964, on Southern Island Cruise 6. Materials include: bird observation sheets, at sea observation summary sheets, fix data (at sea daily log C), and climatological data. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., hgt., remarks, and loc. Remarks include phase (light phase or dark phase), change or course direction, and other notes. At sea observation summaries include total abundance of birds per day, and abundance of birds by group (Shearwater-Petrel-Albatross group, Tropicbirds group, etc.). Fix data sheets include date, time and position data, distance data, time of fix, type of fix, longitude, and latitude. Climatological data sheets include: recorded time, lat., long., pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, wet b, dew pt, hum%, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, course, speed. Also included is a typed photocopied report draft. Localities include: WIlder Shoal Area, Howland Island, Baker Island, Winslow Island, Canton, McKean, Gardner, Sydney, Pago Pago (American Samoa), Birnie, Enderbury, Jarvis, Christmas, Washington, and Palmyra.
