The field book documents geological fieldwork completed by August Foerste. Dates are not included, and location information is not clear. Pages are numbered. The notebook begins with a numbered list of locations, which is followed by short descriptions of terrain and landmarks per location. Some include details about observed types of rock, composition of observed strata and fossil beds. There are sketches of strata. Some entries appear to include reference to time of day.
