Abstract:
Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers September 23 - October 18, 1913, station record numbers 7978 to 7999. These include data relating to temperature and density recorded during dredging. Data recorded includes date, time of day, tide, locality, exact location (latitude and longitude), depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature (of air, surface water, bottom), density of surface and bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, name of observer, and position of observer. Some fields do not contain data, including salinometer, direction of current, and density of water. Position of observer is listed as latitude and longitude. Observer was not listed. A portion of the logbook is blank. Some entries include additional notes on the verso. Locality: coast of North Carolina, including Beaufort, Cape Fear, Bogue inlet, New River Inlet.
