Abstract:
Original logbook of the Albatross cable survey covering Hyd number 2752-2800 and no. 98 to 145 survey, recorded 18 October to 9 November 1891. Data recorded include survey and hydro number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was known to be traveling back and forth between San Francisco and the Hawaiian Islands (based on the history of the ship's activities). Plankton samples may have been taken during these trips although not necessarily recorded in these log books.
