Abstract:
The photograph album details William Foshag's Mexican field trips, 1926-1927, 1929, 1931, and 1934. Pages are numbered and some photographs have captions; captions usually consist of location and year, sometimes a terse description. Subject matter includes portraits and candid images of colleagues, individuals and families; loading supplies; vehicles used during trips; churches, markets, and other local structures; scenes of daily life of local inhabitants; men on horseback; sites where mineral specimens were collected; detail shots of minerals (naica) in situ; terrain (mountains, buttes, vistas, valleys); scenes around ranches; and mines. Locations include the vicinity of (Mexico) Tepoztlán, Sierra Madres, Durango, Cusihuiráchic, Chihuahua; (Texas) Shafter; and California.
