Abstract:
Original logbook of the Albatross covering station numbers Dr 3419 to 3451, Hyd 2632 to 2646, recorded 11 April to 29 August 1891. Data recorded include station number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Some notes on specimens caught are included (type and quantities of fish or other marine life such as crustaceans, urchins, squid, and mollusks). Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was known to be in off the coast of Mexico, then bound for the Pribilof Islands, then in the Strait of Juan de Fuca (based on the history of the ship's activities).
