Abstract:
This item consists of two field journals and species accounts by Joe T. Marshall, detailing his field work with birds. The first journal dates from March 11 - November 2, 1986, while the second dates from June 4 - September 16, 1987. Dated journal entries from both detail accounts of observing and collecting animals in such areas as Puerto Rico, California, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Information included are times, altitudes, weather conditions, terrain and forest descriptions, and bird lists with species. The journal pages of the first are numbered 1-45, while the second is numbered 1-7. Following each journal are species accounts, generally organized by species and containing dates and specific localities, as well as accounts of different occasions of observing and collecting animals. There are a number of animal sketches, as well as some sketched and printed maps.
