Abstract:
The journal and species accounts document the field work of Merlin D. Tuttle for the Smithsonian Venezuelan Project, 1966 - 1967. Much of the content discusses bat anatomy and their roosts in hollow trees. Entries are headed with location (combination of region, geological landmark), and some are undated. Entries describe communities visited (Maiqueritari) and missions, weather and rainfall, extensive details of terrain (elevation) and vegetation, rivers. There are sillustrations of trees used as roost for bats; these include notes about the bats collected and details and measurements of the trees. Species accounts are headed with scientific name, and entries are headed with location and date, followed by descriptions habitat (nests, types and detailed descriptions of vegetation, terrain and elevation) and specimen collected.
