Abstract:
This item consists of a field book kept by Silberglied on a trip to Mexico in 1965, as well as a typed record from the trip. The book includes itinerary information, and entries on "blacklighting" and collecting insects. Blacklighting and collecting notes describe set up and location of black lights, collecting conditions, and names of species collected. Hand-drawn maps of black light locations and tent sites are included throughout the book. Travel ephemera such as tickets, postcards, beer labels, clippings, etc. are also included throughout. Several postcards that Silberglied sent home to family members are collected in the back. A list of specimen labels is also included. Localities include: Mesa de Chipinque, Ciudad Victoria, Mexico City, Acapulco, Monterrey, and others. The typed report includes the dates of trip, members of the group, and typed field note entries (transcribed from book) with collector numbers inserted. Collector number range is 16414-18398.
