Abstract:
This is a black-and-white photograph taken while Charles Branch Wilson worked at the Johns Hopkins University's marine laboratory at Port Antonio, Jamaica in 1897. The photograph depicts a group of 6 women shelling cocoa. They are under a tree with a large pile of seeds, holding knives and baskets, apparently in the process of shelling them.
