Abstract:
Rafinesque's descriptive specimen list of fish, shells, crustaceans, and fungi collected during a field trip from May to June 1817. This item includes numerous detailed drawings of specimens collected. Rafinesque often uses the abbreviation "NG," probably indicating what he thinks is a "new genus." Most of the text is in French, but some entry descriptions are in English and identifications use the English common name and Latin taxonomic name. An itinerary is included at the end of the item. According to the itinerary, Rafinesque collected in various locations in New York including, but not limited to Fishkill (Dutchess County), Newburg, New Windsor, and Verplanck.
