Abstract:
This volume is a log of the schooner Grampus for 16 January to 13 March 1914 with data recorded at sampling stations in the western Atlantic Ocean. Station numbers span from 10157 to 10197. Fields for each station record include station number, date, time, position, depth, bottom, wind, sea, and sky. Also included are tables for temperature at different depths and information on nets. The position field is empty for most stations; the few that are recorded in January are in the vicinity of 36° N and 74° W in the Atlantic Ocean off of Virginia and North Carolina. Loose sheets in the back of the volume are tables of station numbers and other documents from Grampus cruises from 1913 to 1917. The tables include salinities and temperatures for the 1914 cruise as well as tables of station numbers (10057-10156) from 1913. Loose sheets also include a nautical chart of the western Atlantic Ocean off of the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States on which station positions from 1913 are mapped and a document on leptocephalids collected from the Grampus in 1913, including one sketch.
