This item consists of bird specimen lists, type lists, invoices, and correspondence from the United States Exploring Expedition (Wilkes Expedition). Dates are unclear and localities are not present so general values based on the expedition are provided. Specimen lists are primarily composed of collecting by Titian Ramsay Peale and R. J. Pollard, with USNM numbers present. There is a list of types and co-types by Peale numbered 1-108 dated 1848 (after the expedition), as well as a number of invoices with lists of specimens acquired by the USNM.
