Abstract:
The field book documents the field work of Lester F. Ward for the US Geological Survey, January 3, 1899 - June 30, 1904. Entries are dated and describe daily work (including collections sent to the Smithsonian, and work on publications) as well as field work. Field work was completed in Maryland along the Potomac. Notes descriptions of fieldwork are recorded in "local field books". Discusses travel to Europe to study fossil collections.
