Abstract:
This field book consist of Tracy's handwritten report on his investigation of the grasses and forage plants of the arid districts of the southwestern United States. The report is directed to Dr. Geo. Vasey, Botanist, U. S. Department of Agriculture. The report begins with a brief introduction, then lists entries for specimens collected, and concludes with overall observations. Specimen entries list: collector numbers (1 through 500), scientific name, abundance / rarity, and descriptions of plants and habitat / locality. Some specimen entries are lengthy and very descriptive. Narrative descriptions of localities seem to introduce each new section of corresponding collections. The report covers the area between Trinidad, Colorado and Raton, New Mexico. Localities include: Elko (NV), Pleasant Valley (UT), Banstow (CA), Winnamucca (NV), and others. Report is dated September 1, 1987.
