Abstract:
The field book documents E. A. Goldman's field work in Arizona, May 28 - August 7, 1937. Entries are dated and are often headed with locations and routes. Subject matter covers travel details (destinations, times of day, mileage), vegetation (types, state of growth, life zones) and terrain (elevation, notes on volcanic formations) seen enroute, weather, meetings and interactions with colleagues, trapping and collecting (mammals), and lists of plants per site. There are headings for types of wildlife (mammals, birds) in entries with descriptions per site. Additional location information includes names of geographic landmarks and ranches. Locations include mountains in the vicinity of Tucson, including Black Mountain [Black Mesa], Puerto Blanco mountains, Santa Rita mountains, and Grand Canyon.
