The diary documents Roman Kenk's daily activities and field work during 1967. The book is preprinted with date. Entries describe daily activities: office work, specimen identification, meetings with colleagues, collections studied, and field work. Locality of collections studied are often indicated and are from across the country. Field work details describe routes taken including roads, geological landmarks, and towns; description of environment conditions including terrain, water properties (pH, temperature, bottom composition, sometimes multiple locations), specimens collected (appearance and quantity); and photographs taken. Locations include the vicinity of Great Falls, Virginia; Rock Creek Park (District of Columbia); Everett Springs, Tennessee; towns in Kansas including Lawrence; San Jose, Monterey county, Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, California; Tucson, Arizona; Portland, Oregon; Provo, Utah; Fort Bridger, Wyoming; Denver, Colorado.
