Abstract:
The field book documents the field work of Edward A. Goldman in Mexico, January 17 - February 24, 1935. The entries are dated and headed with location or route. Pages are numbered. Subject matter describes travel details (destinations, times of day), vegetation and terrain observed enroute, birds including ducks observed (types, counts, and notes on abundance), mammals observed, daily activities, work and interactions with local staff and officials, and communities visited. There are headings per type (birds and mammals) in entries followed by descriptions and summaries of individuals' observations and knowledge of wildlife. Locations include Lake Chapala [Laguna de Chapala], Guadalajara to Manzanillo, Minatitlán, Yucatán Peninsula (including the vicinity of the ruins of Chichén Itzá).
