Abstract:
The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Montana, Wyoming (Yellowstone Park), March 1, 1916 - April 14, 1916. The entries are dated and describe travel details (destinations, times of day, accommodations), weather, interactions with local officials, observations herds of mammals (including types and quantities, sometimes daily counts), and photographs taken. Within some entries are headings per type of animal or counts of elk per location. Bailey snowshoed to many of the locations.
