Abstract:
Contains several lists of collections mad by "Big Trees", "Murphy", and Mr. Blood. Notes from Big Tree, 18 May to 3 August 1879 and 25 May to 25 September 1880, records mating notes for various species of birds at Stanislaus River, CA. Altitudes included. "Murphy's" notes, 16-17 May 1879 and 19 May to 10 October 1880, records notes on birds shot at Stanislaus River. Altitudes and notes on commonality included. Notes from Mr. Blood, “twelve days commencing July 9th [1880] mostly in the order observed", contains list of birds with abundance / common or rarity notes. Narrative explanation of Mr. Blood’s and Mr. Sabin’s observations and activities in May and June 1880 and birds seen in California and Nevada around that time are also included. A page entitled "Weather 1880" contains a description of weather during the winter. Also includes notes for 1879.
