Abstract:
This item includes a nine page account of Mearns's trip from Manila to San Francisco from 15 September to 16 October 1904. During this trip, Mearns observes specimens at sea and at the various ports he visits. Notes focus on birds observed but also mention fish and sea serpents, frog, mollusk, and crab specimens observed at Mogi, Japan, and birds observed throughout his trip. Localities include but are not limited to Nagasaki, Swan Island, and Formosa. Collector number 13737 (bird) is noted with measurements. Includes a sketch of a bird head.
