The 8 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in Iowa. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes vistas and detail images of tufted vegetation, loess (bluffs, recently slumped loess, along a road cut), prairie plants, and plant specimen (Oenothera) with roots. Locations are in the vicinity of Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Missouri Valley, and Bayfield.
