Abstract:
This item consists of 36 black-and-white photographs of grasses by André Goeldi from his work with grasses in Pará, Brazil. The first 36 photographs are each affixed onto a board and covered by a thin sheet of paper. The name and location of the plant and other notations in Portuguese are sometimes included on this sheet. Sequential numbers are affixed above most photographs (1 through 34). Some photographs indicate a separate numbering system that appears to correspond with Goeldi's list of grasses. The following photographs are not affixed and do not bear any identifying information. The majority of the photographs each depict a single specimen on a dark background. A ruler is sometimes included to indicate size. One photograph depicts an individual, perhaps Goeldi, standing among trees and grasses.
