Abstract:

The 8 photographs document geological and botanical observations of Bohumil Shimek while in Iowa. Photographs are undated and are grouped by number. They are individually numbered and include typed descriptions listing a combination of location, type of formation, and type of plants. Subject matter includes a combination of vistas and detail images of loess terrain (bluffs, hills, ridges), drifts (Nebraskan), Aftonian gravel, prairie, views along roadsides, and vegetation (cottonwood). Locations include Turin and Castana.
