The field notes and diary document Bohumil Shimek's work and travel in Iowa, September 20 - November 8, 1921. Entries are dated, and first set describe terrain and vegetation per for each numbered turn of drive per county including distances, and measurements; geological sections with notes on layers, measurements, compositions, color, and appearance; cuts (numbered) along terrain of railroad; lists of plants; and dated lists of expenses. Notes detail observations of specified types of terrain, including drifts, fields, loess, hills. Locations include the vicinity of Audubon, Guthrie, and Shelby county, Iowa.
