Abstract:
This journal contains notes on Bartsch's field research in Cuba and Haiti from 9 March to 30 April 1917. During this trip, Bartsch collects snails in the family Helicoidea. Other families of snails are possibly included. Lists of birds observed are included throughout the journal. Bartsch also collects a variety of other types of specimens during this trip. A list of collections starting from the back of the book (page 100) and written upside down are numbered 1-353, and note what was collected, location, and date. Specimens listed include birds, reptiles, snails, fish, coral, shell fish, and other specimens. Inserted at the end of the book is a list of what looks like photographs taken. Localities include but are not limited to Guantanamo Bay, Guantanamo River, and Cuzco Beach in Cuba, and Port-au-Prince in Haiti.
