Abstract:
The black-and-white photographs document Edmund Heller's collecting in Africa. Includes images of live animals and specimens. No negatives, unless otherwise marked on print. Subject matter includes a variety of mammals including rodents. Some photographs indicate they were taken during the Rainey African Expedition, 1911-1912. Includes elephant, cheetahs(?), participants with specimens, candid images of participant and local inhabitants in the midst of collecting, and type of feline. Locations include Loita Plains and Guaso Nyiro [Ewaso Ng’iro], British East Africa [Kenya].
