Abstract:
This field book contains field notes of collections Stelfox made from 23 September 1943 to 13 August 1944 in Ireland. Most specimens collected were insects, primarily hymenoptera. Other types of specimens may have been collected. Notes on botanical specimens observed and possibly collected are also included. Stelfox lists the name of the specimen, date collected, sex, quantity, sometimes remarks on the weather, location, sometimes specific type of environment, sometimes remarks about which specimens he would like to collect, sometimes additional information. Localities include, but are not limited to Glen of Aherlow, Bellina County, Rye Water, Royal Canal, Saint Anne’s, Lucan, Clondalkin, and Athdown. 'R.C.L.P' following a name signifies that specimen were seen and verified by D. R. C. L. Perkins, F.R.S. Clipping of two articles by Stelfox entitled “A Large Race of cepaea nemoralis L (and other Mollusca) at High Altitudes in the Galtee Mountains, Co. Tipperary South” and “Some pisidia from the Tarns of the Galtee Mountains, Co. Tipperary South” and a photograph of Galtee mountains, Co. Tipperary (east end of range) taken by the Irish Tourist Association, Inc. are inserted at page 190.
