Abstract:
The field books of L. Walkinshaw document his Florida bird observations, 1987; Michigan bird observations, 1988; and correspondence, 1931-1988. Pages are numbered. Begins with observations of birds' nests in Florida with species, location (environment), quantity of eggs, and date; followed by detailed descriptions of nests, parents, eggs and followup observations (descriptions of appearance, behaviors, and measurements); table of data on birds first seen for the season; bird counts by county along with date and length of observation time; correspondence relating to Sandhill Crane data; and copies of data cards from the North American New Record Card Program. Locations include references to property owners. Includes a map. Locations include but are not limited to Polk and Osceola County, Florida; Crawford, Calhoun, Baraga, Eaton, Houghton, Ingham, Michigan; and Alaska.
