The notes document Moynihan's behavioral observations of Arremonops (striped sparrow) in Frijoles, Barro Colorado Island, Pedro Miguel (all in Panama) March 11, 1958 - June 20, 1961. Pages are numbered; entries are dated and headed with type of bird and location. They describe birds songs (with phonetic descriptions), location of the bird in its environment, interactions, and changing behavior (feeding, disputes) as displayed in physical appearance and movement. Sketches of birds support of the text. Bird's physical descriptions include sex, colors, size, and appearance. There are markings along the left hand margin of pages, with keys at the beginning of entries, indicating color and corresponding information (usually indicates which bird is being observed). Includes references to other dated entries), weather, and times of day. Includes an index organized by type of behavior, and type of information included (whether description or comment) and page number.
