The motion picture documents work completed by Waldo Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955. The 50 minute motion picture exists as reels 14-15; film transfer with wet gate; 3/4" U-matic videotape; July 6, 1995; and a digital file. It shows voyages down inland African rivers, collecting in wetlands, coastline communities, African ferries, a dam, Egyptian ruins, images of Waldo Schmitt with colleagues (possibly same as Reels 12, 13, 19), sights in Europe on way to Africa; native dancers; elephants; vistas of river valley; local inhabitants at work on the water; giraffes, snakes, elephants at Gangala-Na-Bodio elephant training station; examples of vegetation; and Watusi and other indigenous dancers at Paulis-Mangbetu. Includes location in Leopoldville [Kinshasa].
