This field book contains paleontological and geological field notes taken in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri from 10 May to 14 June 1966. Cooper describes stratigraphy of sites visited, often drawings sketches of layers, and notes the fossils found in different layers. Various brachiopoda genera, coral, and other fossil specimens are noted. Descriptions of limestone and shale are also included. Locations include Ely, Williams Quarry in Mason City, Limwood Quarry east of Buffalo in Iowa, Mineola (Iowa or Missouri), and New Bloomfield, Holts Summit, and Saint Laurent Creek in Missouri. Other localities were also visited.
